Kolkata: Shweta Khan, the main accused in the Howrah sex and pornographic film racket case, was arrested on Wednesday. Her son Aryan Khan and daughter Zoya Khan were earlier arrested by the police. The trio is accused of confining a 22-year-old woman in their flat for six months, torturing her, and forcing her to shoot pornography.

The arrests were made after a thorough investigation, with Aryan Khan being apprehended from a hideout in the Golf Green area of South Kolkata. The mother-son duo, along with Zoya, have been booked under various charges while the victim, a 22-year-old woman, is currently undergoing treatment with serious injuries.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognisance of the case and directed the West Bengal authorities to provide free medical care and psychological counselling to the victim. The NCW has also sought a report from the DGP (West Bengal), Rajeev Kumar, within three days, demanding immediate action against the accused.

The case has taken a political turn, with the BJP alleging that Shweta Khan has links with the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC). Union Minister and West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar shared photos of Shweta Khan with TMC leaders, claiming they are "closely linked".
