Kozhikode: Kodi Suni, a convict in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case, was granted parole on Monday. The parole, approved by the Jail DGP for 30 days, allowed Suni to be released from Tavanoor Jail on Saturday.

The decision was influenced by a letter from the State Human Rights Commission, based on a petition submitted by Suni's mother.

Suni, who is also implicated in other cases during his imprisonment, was granted parole despite the police's probation report being under review.

The move to grant parole to convicts in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case has previously sparked controversy.

T.P. Chandrashekharan was hacked to death by a gang on the night of May 4, 2012 at Vallikkad near Onchiyam. The court had convicted a total of 12 persons, including K C Ramachandran, Kirmani Manoj, and T.K. Rajeesh, in this case.
