Tripunithura, Kerala: The police team probing the death of Mihir Ahammed, a 9th-standard student in Kochi, has begun questioning the vice principal of the school where the child had previously studied.
The team, led by AL Yesudas of Hill Station Police Station in Tripunithura, questioned the vice principal after he was summoned to the station.
Mihir tragically lost his life after jumping from the 26th floor of his residential flat, allegedly due to bullying he faced at his school. According to Mihir’s mother, he took his own life following severe harassment at Global Public School, a CBSE school in Thrippunithura, Ernakulam. In her complaint, she also alleged that her son had faced mental distress caused by the vice principal of the school he previously attended. She also brought the matter to the attention of the Child Rights Commission.
Mihir's parents allege that the bullying and severe ragging from his classmates at his school in Thiruvaniyoor were the reasons behind his tragic death.
On Saturday, members of the Child Rights Commission visited the site to gather evidence. The investigating police team also spoke to Mihir's classmates and teachers for further information.
Following Mihir's death, an Instagram page titled 'Justice for Mihir' appeared, but it was later deleted, which the family has raised concerns about. Police have made progress in understanding the circumstances surrounding the creation of the page and the individuals behind it.
