27-year-old mother arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly killing her newborn by placing the infant in boiling water. Postpartum depression suspected.

Bengaluru: A 27-year-old woman, identified as Radha, has been arrested for allegedly killing her newborn by placing the infant in a vessel of boiling water, according to a reports.
The shocking incident occurred at her parents’ home in Vishweshwarapura on Monday.
Authorities believe Radha, who may have been suffering from postpartum depression, committed the act after the premature baby refused to feed and cried excessively.
Thinking that the baby was ‘not normal,’ the mother allegedly placed her infant in boiling water said police officials.
Radha had been staying alone at her parents' house, as her husband, an unemployed alcoholic, had ceased visiting her.
The police suggest that her mental health condition played a major role in this tragic event. The newborn succumbed to fatal burns.
