Weight-loss drug scam busted in Gurugram; ₹70 lakh ‘Mounjaro’ stock seized
Gurugram, Haryana: In a major crackdown on an alleged fake weight-loss injection racket, the drug controller in Gurugram has seized stock worth around ₹70 lakh of the anti-diabetes and weight-management drug ‘Mounjaro’ and arrested a supplier.
Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a weekly, subcutaneous injection approved for treating type 2 diabetes and chronic weight management by activating GIP and GLP-1 receptors to improve blood sugar control and reduce appetite.
Officials said the operation was initiated amid concerns over the misuse and illegal circulation of high-demand weight-loss and diabetes drugs in the market.
