Poultry crisis in Tamil Nadu: Farmers suspend rearing as costs soar, prices frozen
Poultry farmers in parts of Tamil Nadu have stopped chicken rearing to protest low procurement prices.
Poultry farmers in parts of Tamil Nadu have temporarily stopped rearing chickens to protest against the low procurement prices offered by private companies. They say the rates have remained unrevised for the past five to six years, despite a sharp rise in the cost of raw materials and production.
The farmers have appealed to the state government to step in and address the issue. Several others have warned that they will also suspend production in the coming days if prices are not revised.
