New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted partly cloudy skies with a chance of very light rain in the evening, but Delhi's air quality stayed in the "very poor" category on Monday.

According to IMD, the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 17.3°C, which is 0.1°C above the season’s average. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 29°C, while the humidity level stood at 94% at 8:30 a.m.

Data from the Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB) Sameer app showed that localities such as Bawana (AQI 401) and Anand Vihar (AQI 431) recorded ‘severe’ air quality levels. Out of 38 monitoring stations across the city, 23 reported ‘very poor’ air quality with AQI readings above 300.

On Sunday, Delhi’s air quality had shown marginal improvement, moving from ‘very poor’ to the ‘poor’ category, with the AQI dropping from 324 in the morning to 292 in the evening. The minimum temperature that day settled at 15.8°C, marking the lowest temperature recorded in October over the past two years.

For comparison, the minimum temperature in October 2023 had dipped to 15.9°C, while it stood at 17.4°C during the same period in the previous year.

As per CPCB classification, an AQI between 0–50 is considered ‘good’, 51–100 ‘satisfactory’, 101–200 ‘moderate’, 201–300 ‘poor’, 301–400 ‘very poor’, and 401–500 ‘severe’.
