International Yoga Day 2026: Chief Ministers across India join nationwide celebrations
India marks the 12th International Day of Yoga as Chief Ministers join nationwide events promoting healthy ageing and wellness.
International Yoga Day 2026 was celebrated across India with large-scale participation from Chief Ministers and political leaders, reinforcing the country’s growing focus on health, wellness and active living.
The nationwide observance, held under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing", highlighted yoga’s role in improving physical fitness, mental well-being and quality of life, especially among older adults.

Among those who participated were Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
Leaders joined yoga sessions and public outreach programmes organised across their respective states.
This year marked the 12th edition of International Day of Yoga, which has evolved into a worldwide movement since launching in 2015.
