A large-scale sanitation drive was carried out in Indore on Sunday, soon after the traditional Gair Yatra celebrations concluded.

The event, held a few days after Holi, is a long-standing tradition believed to have begun during the reign of the Holkar Dynasty, when members of the royal family would step out to celebrate the festival alongside the public.

After the procession ended, the Indore Municipal Corporation launched an extensive clean-up operation. More than 400 sanitation workers were deployed along the procession route and around the historic Rajwada Palace area. Several mechanised sweepers and heavy-duty cleaning machines were also used to clear colours, litter and other waste from the streets.

Indore's mayor joined the drive and commended the sanitation staff for their prompt work. Officials said the swift clean-up reflects the city’s continued commitment to maintaining its reputation as one of India’s cleanest cities even after large-scale festivities.
