A 69-year-old retired teacher from Thrissur is quietly transforming the lives of women recovering from breast cancer through an initiative rooted in compassion and creativity.
Rathnam, who has lived with polio since childhood, has spent her life overcoming challenges. Determined to pursue education despite physical limitations, she went on to become a government school teacher and dedicated years to shaping young minds before retiring.

From her home, Rathnam now runs a small business crafting handmade soaps, floor cleaner and decorative items. But it is her knitting skills that have brought her widespread appreciation.
Using soft yarn, Rathnam creates lightweight, handmade prosthetic breasts designed for women recovering from breast cancer surgery. The prosthetics offer a comfortable and affordable alternative, helping many women regain confidence and dignity after treatment.
