India resumed at 368 for 3 and scored an additional 196 runs before captain Shubman Gill declared the innings just before tea. Gill extended his overnight century to 126, while Rishabh Pant played a fluent knock of 81. Washington Sundar's half-century further boosted India's total. Afghanistan pacer Mohammed Saleem emerged as the standout bowler, finishing with an impressive five-wicket haul despite India's dominance.

In response, Afghanistan lost wickets at regular intervals. Debutant spinner Manav Suthar made an immediate impact, claiming his maiden Test wicket and finishing with three scalps, including Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Afsar Zazai. Prasidh Krishna picked up two wickets. Rahmat Shah remained unbeaten on 43 as Afghanistan trailed by 451 runs at stumps.
