Prix Versailles 2026: Guwahati Airport among world's most beautiful
Guwahati Airport's bamboo-inspired Terminal 2 has been named among the world's most beautiful airports for 2026 by Prix Versailles.
Guwahati Airport Terminal 2, officially known as The Bamboo Orchids, has been recognised among the world's most beautiful airports for 2026 by the prestigious Prix Versailles, placing it alongside Navi Mumbai International Airport. Located at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, the terminal celebrates Assam's rich cultural identity through architecture inspired by the iconic kopou phool (foxtail orchid) and locally sourced bamboo.
Designed to resemble a lush bamboo grove, the terminal features towering bamboo-inspired columns, immersive nature-themed digital displays, and elegant interiors that create a unique travel experience. Around 140 metric tonnes of locally sourced bamboo were used in its construction.
Passengers have praised the terminal for reflecting Assam's heritage while offering world-class infrastructure. Expected to handle over 13 million passengers annually by 2032, Terminal 2 is set to become a major aviation gateway to Northeast India.
