BSF personnel celebrate Diwali at Samba border, spreading festive cheer on the frontline
BSF personnel in Samba, Jammu, celebrated Diwali on Friday, lighting diyas, performing puja, and bursting crackers.
Samba, Jammu & Kashmir: In the Samba sector of Jammu, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel stationed along the International Border celebrated Diwali on Friday, bringing joy to the frontline even though they were miles away from their homes.
Jawans lit diyas, performed puja, burst crackers, and sang bhajans during the festivities, bringing joy despite the difficult surroundings. Despite being stationed at the border for most of the year, the personnel embraced the festival with enthusiasm, making the most of the occasion.
One of the BSF personnel, Pooja, says that ‘‘Here, we first perform the aarti at the temple, then light lamps and candles, and celebrate Diwali by bursting firecrackers. We do miss home, but most of the time we spend here; we live here for 10 months and spend only 2 months at home. my family is here too.’’
The troops celebrated with great joy and a festive spirit, highlighting their commitment to peaceful coexistence while praying for the happiness of all citizens despite the constant need to remain vigilant.
Meanwhile, another BSF personnel says, "What our country and we fundamentally believe in is peaceful coexistence. This is a festive occasion; everyone is happy, and we pray for all our fellow citizens to stay happy and celebrate together."
These jawans protecting the borders kicked off the celebrations early, keeping their spirits up and bringing joy even though they were separated from their loved ones. The nation will formally celebrate the Festival of Lights on Monday.
