From battling a brain tumour and surviving a near-fatal case of meningitis to standing on the podium with gold medals, 65-year-old Opinder Kaur Sekhon has become a symbol of resilience and sporting excellence.

The Chandigarh athlete recently returned from the 38th Malaysian Masters Athletics Championship in Malaysia after winning four medals. She secured gold in the discus throw and the 400-metre event, while also clinching silver medals in the 100 and 200-metre races.

Her sporting success becomes even more inspiring considering the years she spent overcoming serious health challenges before entering competitive athletics.

Opinder says legendary endurance athletes inspired her journey and that she visualised victory before competing in Malaysia.

With more than 150 medals collected over the years, each achievement reflects dedication, discipline, and belief. Her story stands as a powerful reminder that determination can overcome even the toughest challenges.
