Kolkata: Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘'The Bengal Files'’ has witnessed a steep drop at the box office, with the film earning just ₹0.3 crore on its second Monday (Day 11), according to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk.

The total domestic collection now stands at ₹14.4 crore, reflecting a dismal run despite a brief surge over its opening weekend.

On September 15, 2025, the film recorded an overall occupancy of 16.65%, leading to further reduction of shows across India.

What started as a promising weekend growth has fizzled out on working days, leaving the film’s prospects heavily dependent on its second weekend performance.

‘'The Bengal Files'’ had opened below expectations with ₹1.75 crore on Day 1, before picking up marginally to ₹2.25 crore on Saturday and ₹2.75 crore on Sunday.

However, collections plunged to ₹1.15 crore on Monday, and the decline continued throughout the week.

Starring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Saswata Chatterjee, Darshan Kumarr, and Sourav Das, the film revisits Bengal’s violent past, depicting the 1946 Direct Action Day and the Noakhali riots.

Despite its intense subject matter and strong cast, the film’s momentum appears to be fading fast. The makers, however, remain optimistic for a rebound in the coming weekend.
