Despite largely positive reviews, a section of netizens has slammed the film for lacking punch and being dragged to a great extent.

The much-anticipated Vijay Deverakonda starrer Kingdom, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, has finally hit cinemas worldwide and is receiving largely positive reviews from fans and critics alike. Touted as a strong comeback vehicle for the 'Rowdy' star, the film also features Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead.
One of the film’s standout elements is Anirudh Ravichander’s background score, which has been lauded by audiences, particularly in cinema halls, for its electrifying impact. Several viewers on social media platform X have described the BGM as “mind-blowing” and “goosebump-inducing,” contributing significantly to the cinematic experience.
However, not all feedback has been glowing. A section of cinephiles expressed disappointment over what they termed as underwhelming “elevation scenes”—key heroic moments that lacked the punch expected in a mass entertainer. While many have praised the second half, others felt the first half was comparatively stronger, with the narrative losing steam as it progressed.
One user wrote, "After a decent first half, Kingdom goes downhill and never truly recovers. Emotional depth and heroic highs were completely missing." Another shared, "Dragged to the core… recycled mass elevations, loud BGM trying to cover hollow scenes. Tested the audience’s patience."
Yet, fan reactions remain largely enthusiastic. "Peak performance from King Vijay Deverakonda and sensational BGM from Anirudh!" posted one fan, while another claimed, "Good first half, blockbuster second half—this is enough. Kingdom is a hit for Deverakonda."
This marks director Gowtam Tinnanuri’s return after the critically acclaimed Jersey, and the film carries high expectations, especially given Deverakonda’s recent lacklustre outings with Kushi and The Family Star. Despite mixed critical feedback, the film’s strong pre-release buzz and extensive promotional campaign are expected to translate into solid box office numbers, particularly on its opening day.
Only time will tell if Kingdom can sustain momentum in the days ahead, but for now, it appears to be a commercial win for the team—and possibly the turning point Deverakonda was seeking.
