Actor Parvathy Thiruvothu has responded to questions regarding why prominent figures like Manju Warrier and Vidhu Vincent, who were founding members of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), are no longer active in the organisation. When asked about this, Parvathy made it clear that she does not feel it is her place to comment on others' personal truths.

In a statement to The New Indian Express, Parvathy explained, "You should direct such questions to them. I am not the person to speak about it. I have always felt it is unfair to be asked such questions. Why are you asking me this? There is no situation where you cannot get an interview with them. But instead, you are choosing to ask the people who are working the hardest, and in doing so, we are being disrespected."

Parvathy expressed her own curiosity about the matter but reiterated that she has no obligations to anyone in this regard. She added, "I am telling this to all the media. I have no obligations to anyone."

The actor's response highlights the frustration she feels in being questioned about matters that do not concern her directly, stressing that such discussions should be held with the individuals in question rather than with her.

Malayalam industry post-2017 incident

Talking about the change in mindset in the industry after the actor assault case in 2017, she stated, “I don’t believe fear should be the ultimate motivator; it’s merely a temporary deterrent. It’s quite odd that fear is often the reason people behave decently!”

She further emphasized that there should be a system in place to safeguard workers' rights in the workplace. "The Justice Hema Committee is indeed a step in the right direction."

Roles in films

Reflecting on her film journey, Parvathy shared, "I’ve thoroughly enjoyed portraying strong, bold characters. I don’t really associate myself with the 'shy, demure, feminine' image because I’ve never publicly portrayed that side. What I would love is to play a character that is completely 'un-Parvathy-like.'"

She also expressed interest in exploring comedic roles, adding, "I’d absolutely love to explore a comedic role! I’m actually very funny, believe me!"
