
Shweta Tripathi, the acclaimed actor known for her roles as Golu Gupta in Mirzapur and Shaalu Gupta in Masaan, captivated audiences at MBIFL 2025 with an inspiring conversation alongside popular media personality Rekha Menon. Her words, filled with motivation and conviction, resonated deeply with those in attendance.
“Never compromise on your dreams. Do not be afraid. Break out of your bubble. Obstacles will arise on the road, but do not lose heart—keep moving forward,” she urged, encouraging resilience in the face of challenges. She emphasised the importance of learning from failures, correcting mistakes, and practising patience. She also stressed the necessity of reading, reminding everyone not to overlook the value of books.

Shweta shared how fortunate she had been to receive encouragement in her career, adding that everyone deserves the same kind of support. “Do what you love with responsibility and without fear. Education is the most important thing—caste, religion, and colour do not matter. Acts of violence against women, whether at school, on a film set, or anywhere else, must be questioned. Conversations like these create platforms filled with confidence and conviction,” she asserted.
The session gained momentum as the audience engaged with thought-provoking questions and comments.
Malayalam cinema and South Indian cuisine
When asked about the possibility of starring alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Rekha Menon playfully countered, “Why not Mammootty or Mohanlal?” To this, Shweta responded enthusiastically, “Or Fahadh Faasil, for that matter?” Expressing her keen interest in Malayalam cinema, she stated, “I would love to be part of a Malayalam film. Regardless of the language, I believe in dubbing my own lines.”
She also revealed her fondness for South Indian cuisine, particularly idli and dosa, much to the delight of the audience.
As the session drew to a close, Rekha suggested that Shweta learn a few Malayalam words to mark her future association with the industry. The actress playfully attempted to say, “Thank you, Namaskaram, see you again,” initially fumbling but quickly correcting herself—earning warm applause from the audience.
