The picture is not just any photograph from the Kapoor family archive. It is the same selfie Rishi Kapoor had shared in June 2018 while flying from Mauritius to Dubai aboard an Emirates flight. In the image, the veteran actor raises a glass as he celebrates the overwhelming response to Ranbir's performance in ‘Sanju’.

Alongside the selfie, Rishi had written “I am flying and aircraft flying at 40,000 ft. Emirates flight EK702 Mauritius to Dubai now in real time. Cheers Ranbir! You don't know how proud your parents are. Thank you and God Bless you. Aur bhi achcha kaam karo!”

The post came shortly after Sanju opened to widespread appreciation and became one of the biggest successes of Ranbir's career.

Even after Rishi Kapoor's passing on April 30, 2020, following a two-year battle with leukemia, the photograph has remained a constant reminder of a father's love and belief in his son.

Ranbir has never shied away from speaking honestly about his relationship with his father. He has previously shared that there was a certain emotional distance between them while he was growing up, something he believes reflected the parenting style of that generation. He once described it as a "glass wall" between father and son.
