The Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) on Thursday expressed its response over ‘Padavettu’ director Liju Krishna’s press conference.

In a Facebook note, WCC said neither the organisation nor its members responded to the press conference as the film was in theatres and they respected the collective effort of the hundreds of film professionals.

“Liju Krishna was arrested on March 6th, 2022, after he had allegedly raped and assaulted a woman who was helping him write parts of the film. Following which the FEFKA Directors Union had officially terminated his membership from their organisation.

However that did not stop the production house of the film Padavettu and their team members from continuing to provide this rape-accused Liju Krishna along with another #METOO accused production executive Bipin Paul, a platform to speak against WCC and make wild and untrue allegations against one of our members, simply because we stood by the survivor,” WCC wrote.

“WCC always have stood with the victims who had approached us in their traumatic journey towards becoming survivors and we shall continue to do so,” they added.

Along with the post, WCC also shared the note penned by the survivor against the director.
