The much-awaited acting debut of Vismaya Mohanlal is now officially on the way. The makers of director Jude Anthany Joseph’s upcoming film Thudakkam have announced that the movie will hit theatres during Onam 2026, setting the stage for one of the most talked-about Malayalam releases of the festive season.

Vismaya Mohanlal, daughter of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, steps into acting with Thudakkam, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Jude Anthany Joseph, best known for Ohm Shanthi Oshaana and 2018, India’s official Oscar entry.

Confirming the Onam release, Mohanlal himself shared the update on X, posting, “Vismaya Thudakkam. #OnamRelease2026.”

Ever since the film was announced, Thudakkam has created massive buzz among fans and film lovers, not only because it marks Vismaya’s debut but also because of the strong creative team backing it. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, a production house behind several Mohanlal blockbusters.

When the project was launched earlier, Mohanlal had penned an emotional message to his daughter, wishing her well as she entered cinema. He wrote, “Dear Mayakutty, may your "Thudakkam" be just the first step in a lifelong love affair with cinema.”

Aashirvad Cinemas also extended a warm welcome to Vismaya, describing her entry into films as “the dawn of a luminous new chapter.”

Vismaya Mohanlal is already known as a writer and has published the book ‘Grains of Stardust’. With Thudakkam, she follows the path of her brother Pranav Mohanlal, who has successfully established himself as a leading actor in Malayalam cinema. Producer Antony Perumbavoor, sharing a throwback picture with Vismaya as a child, wished her a powerful “beginning”, echoing the very title of the film.
