In the wake of the latest developments in Malayalam cinema industry following the release of the Hema Committee report, Malayalam actor Ramya Nambessan recently took to Instagram to share a powerful message about equality and dignity. In her post, Ramya said: “This world equally belongs to everyone born here. The opportunity to live here with dignity is not anyone’s charity but a right that each of us possesses. I learned this from my dear friend, who showed it through their own life.”

She also referenced a quote by Italian Marxist philosopher Antonio Gramsci, stating, "To tell the truth is revolutionary." Notably, Ramya is among the artists who have faced the most cyberbullying for speaking out about women’s issues in the Malayalam film industry.

Earlier today, Kerala Chalachitra Academy Chairman Ranjith and AMMA General Secretary Siddique both resigned amid serious allegations. Ranjith stepped down after facing criticism over accusations made by a Bengali actress, while Siddique resigned in response to sexual harassment claims from a young Malayalam actress. These resignations come after the Kerala government released a redacted version of the Hema Committee report, which revealed issues affecting women in the Malayalam film industry.

Actor and WCC member Parvathy Thiruvothu also shared a similar social media story related to the recent incidents.
