Veteran American actor TK Carter, best known for his roles in The Thing and Space Jam, has died at the age of 69 after being found at his home in California.

California: TK Carter, an American actor recognised for his work across film, television and voice acting, was found dead at his residence in Duarte, California, on Friday, January 9, 2026. He was 69.
According to reports citing law enforcement sources, a call for service was made in the evening, and no foul play is suspected. His official cause of death has not been disclosed.

Carter was widely remembered for portraying Nauls, the rollerskating chef, in John Carpenter’s 1982 cult classic The Thing. He also appeared in Space Jam (1996) and featured in films such as Southern Comfort, Doctor Detroit, Ski Patrol and My Favorite Martian. His television credits included Punky Brewster, Good Times, The Jeffersons, 227, Family Matters, Moesha, The Steve Harvey Show and The Nanny. In addition, he lent his voice to animated series including The Transformers and Jem.
Beyond acting, Carter remained active in comedy and voice work for much of his career, earning recognition for his versatility across genres. He is survived by his wife, Janet Carter.
