Chennai: Actor Shalini Pandey has levelled serious allegations against a South Indian film director, claiming that he entered her vanity van without knocking while she was changing clothes. She made this revelation in an interview with Filmygyan.
"He did not even knock before entering. I was in the early stages of my career, and I had to set certain boundaries for self-protection," Shalini stated.
Shalini Pandey further mentioned that she has worked with both respectful and unpleasant men in her career. "I am speaking about both on-screen and off-screen experiences within the crew. One must have boundaries. I do not come from a film industry background; I am a complete outsider," she clarified.
Speaking about the incident, she said, “At the beginning of my career, I was working on a South Indian film. While I was changing inside the vanity van, the director walked in without even knocking. I screamed as soon as he entered. At that time, I was just 22 years old. People often told me that I should be nice to others and control my emotions, but then...!”
Looking back, Shalini Pandey expressed satisfaction with the way she has navigated her career. "You must establish boundaries. I have even encountered men who view women as inferior," she added.
Shalini Pandey was recently seen in the Bollywood film Maharaja, alongside Junaid Khan, son of Aamir Khan. Her upcoming film Idli Kadai, directed by Dhanush, is in the pipeline. She gained recognition through films like Arjun Reddy, Mahanati, and 118. She also recently appeared in the web series Dabba Cartel.
