The much-anticipated romantic drama ‘Tere Ishq Mein’ has taken audiences by surprise with a strong start at the box office. Directed by Aanand L Rai and starring Dhanush, the film has struck a chord with fans nostalgic about hits like Raanjhanaa.
Box Office Performance:
The film opened to ₹16 crore net in India on day 1, surpassing early expectations of ₹10 crore. Interestingly, the bulk of these collections came from the Hindi version, with the Tamil version contributing just ₹75 lakh. Trade experts noted that the Tamil release could have performed better if it had been released on more screens, given Dhanush’s strong fan base in the region.
Advance bookings were already strong, but footfalls surged during Friday night shows, largely fueled by social media buzz.
On day 2, the film continued its momentum, collecting ₹5.4 crore by afternoon, bringing the total to ₹21.4 crore so far. Industry insiders say the coming days, especially Monday, will be crucial to determine whether the film can sustain this momentum and turn its strong opening into a full-fledged hit.
According to Box Office India, Tere Ishq Mein has recorded the eighth-highest opening day of 2025. It’s been a relatively slow year for blockbuster openings-Chaava leads with around ₹30 crore. Other notable openings this year include Sikandar, Thamma, Housefull 5, and Saiyaara. Among romantic films, Tere Ishq Mein now holds the second-best opening of 2025.
Why fans are loving it
The film’s emotional storyline, the chemistry between Dhanush and the lead actress Kriti Sanon, Aanand L Rai’s signature romantic storytelling have resonated with audiences, making it a hit in the Hindi belt, even with a limited release in Tamil Nadu.
