‘She doesn't love him; she only wants his money’: Sunita Ahuja on Govinda’s alleged affair

New Delhi: Amid ongoing rumours about actor Govinda’s personal life, his wife Sunita Ahuja has once again addressed the controversy, saying she is aware of the alleged affair but firmly denying claims that it involves a Marathi actress.

In a recent interview with ETimes, Sunita said the past year has been emotionally difficult for her due to repeated reports linking Govinda to another woman. “I treat 2025 as a terrible year for me because I've been hearing about Govinda's controversy - that he is having an affair with a girl,” she said. Clarifying earlier speculation, Sunita added that the woman in question is not an actress and claimed the relationship, if any, is driven by money rather than love.

"But I know that she's not an actress because actresses don't do such bad things. She doesn't love him; she only wants his money,” she added.

Sunita also expressed hope for a new beginning. “I wish to change my life in 2026. I want Govinda to put an end to all these controversies, and I want a happy family in 2026. I hope it happens very soon,” she said. Emphasising her stand, she remarked that a man’s priorities should remain with his family, adding that no one has the right to introduce “a fourth woman” into their life, “including Govinda”.

She further urged Govinda to distance himself from people who, according to her, are only around him for financial benefits and instead focus on his work and family.

"I want Chi Chi to leave all his chamchas and focus on his work because even they are with him for money."

How did Sunita respond earlier?

Sunita’s latest remarks come months after she spoke about the rumours during a podcast with Paras S Chhabra on Abraa Kaa Dabra. At the time, she had said she had only heard about the alleged affair and could not confirm anything without seeing proof herself. She had then mentioned that she was told the woman was a Marathi actress, while maintaining that she would speak only the truth.

She had also stated that this phase of life was not meant for such controversies and that Govinda should focus on their children’s future, including their daughter’s marriage and son Yashvardhan’s career.

About Govinda and Sunita

Govinda and Sunita Ahuja married in March 1987 and initially kept their marriage private. They welcomed their daughter Tina in 1988 and later their son Yashvardhan in 1997.

Speculation about trouble in their marriage surfaced earlier this year, with reports suggesting that Sunita had sent a legal notice. However, no further legal action followed. There were also reports claiming that the couple reconciled months ago.

Putting rumours to rest, Govinda and Sunita appeared together publicly during Ganesh Chaturthi, where Sunita stated that no force could separate her from her husband.
