Kochi: Actor Subi Suresh's friends and family did their best to expedite her liver transplantation, said actor Tini Tom, while reacting to the news of the demise of his colleague.

Subi, who was being treated for liver-related ailments, succumbed on Wednesday morning at a private hospital in Kochi.

Speaking to Mathrubhumi News, Tini said, “She (Subi) had been in the ICU for the past few days. She was about to undergo liver transplant surgery. We had done everything to expedite the process with the help of political and social activists.”

“However, Subi’s condition worsened and she was shifted to the ventilator the other day. We did our best, but to no avail. No matter how much money we have, we all have to bid goodbye when the time comes," he said.

“I knew her from the beginning of her career. Recently, she visited my family and we cut a cake celebrating the success of her YouTube channel. She was very happy and even had wedding plans underway,” he added.

Subi began her career at Cochin Kalabhavan. Her television programmes and live stage shows made quite a mark as a comedian. She also excelled as an actor in the Malayalam film industry.

Her career as a TV anchor started with the famous Malayalam comedy show 'Cinemala' on Asianet. She became a well-known face among Malayalis after hosting a show for kids called 'Kuttipattalam' on Surya TV.

She acted in several movies like Kanaka SImhasanam, Happy Husbands, Elsamma Enna Aankutty among others.
