For the unversed, before making her acting debut, Sridevi worked as a child artist in Malayalam movies.

Devaraagam (1996)

Directed by Bharathan, the movie marked the return of Sridevi to Malayalam cinema after a long gap. Although the film, starring her, Aravind Swami, and others, did not perform well at the box office, the music became a hit with the audience. According to reports, ‘Devaraagan’ was later slated for a sequel, but was shelved due to her untimely demise.

Satyavan Savithri (1977)

The film is based on the story of Savitri, who forced Yama, the God of death, to restore life for her husband. Featuring Kamal Haasan and Sridevi in the titular roles, the period drama was directed by PG Viswambaran. Released on October 14, it also starred Adoor Bhasi, Thikkurisi Sukumaran Nair, and Sreelatha Namboothiri, among others, in pivotal roles.

Akale Aakasham (1977)

Helmed by IV Sasi, the 1977 movie starred Madhu, Vidhubala, MG Soman, Bhasi, Sridevi, and Namboothiri. Acclaimed music composer G Devarajan crooned the songs with Sreekumaran Thampi penning the lyrics, while the cinematography was done by C Ramachandra Menon. The film didn’t work with the audience but it is considered to be one of the finest Malayalam performances of Sridevi.

Aa Nimisham (1977)

Sridevi and Madhu’s second collaboration in 1977 was ‘Aa Nimisham,’ directed by Sasi. The director once again collaborated with Devarajan for the film’s music. Originally made in Malayalam, it was remade in ‘Telugu as Guppedu Manasu,’ and Tamil as ‘Nool Veli.’ Other actors including Sheela, Baby Sumathi, Chandrakala, Ravikumar, and others were also seen.

Kuttavum Shikshayum (1976)

The Malayalam remake of 1973’s Tamil movie ‘Pennai Nambungal,’ also starred Kamal and Srivdevi in the leading roles, alongside Bahadoor and KP Ummer. Directed by M Masthan, ‘Kuttavum Shikshayum’ was backed by KSR Moorthy. The film’s music score was composed by MS Viswanathan and was released on July 9.
