Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer 'Stree 2' is gearing up for its theatrical release on Wednesday. Though the film's official release date is August 15, premier shows of the movie are scheduled to release a day prior, i.e., on August 14 at 9.30 PM in select theaters.

Ahead of the movie’s release, social media users have found some uncanny resemblance in the posters of the upcoming movie and Netflix’s acclaimed series, ‘Stranger Things 2.’ A post by a page called ‘Indians on Internet’ has claimed that ‘Stree 2’s poster is a copy of the web series.

Taking to the comments section, a user, Soumen Pol, wrote: “In their defense, most of the film and series posters follow similar setup nowadays. But this one is too much (sic.)” Similar thoughts were penned by another user, Debayan Dutta, who said, “At least they take inspiration from good movies,” while a third user, Akash Mondal, said that “the copied one looks better than the original”.

The post was shared on Sunday morning, and since then, it has garnered over 8.2K likes, 251 comments, and 645 shares.

Interestingly, these aren’t the only two posters that have an uncanny resemblance. In an entirely separate post on Quora, users highlighted various Indian films whose posters were hugely inspired by those of foreign films. Among those include ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Simon Birch,’ ‘The Best of Me’ ‘Dilwale,’ ‘Rowdy Rathore’ and ‘The Replacement Killers,’ ‘Lords of Dogtown’ and ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara,’ and ‘Mausam’ and ‘Titanic.’

Meanwhile, the said poster of ‘Stree 2’ was released in July along with its trailer. It features Rajkummar and Shraddha, alongside Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana, and Abhishek Bannerjee. ‘Stree 2,’ a horror-comedy directed by Amar Kaushik, is the sequel to the original film which was released in 2018 and went on to become a blockbuster hit.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan, the highly-anticipated film will clash at the box office with Akshay Kumar-led ‘Khel Khel Mein,’ John Abraham’s ‘Vedaa,’ and Ram Pothineni and Sanjay Dutt-starrer ‘Double iSmart.’ The movie has reportedly sold over a lakh tickets through advance booking within 48 hours.
