‘Dhurandhar’ is all set for its Japanese rollout, and the international poster has revealed a key difference from the Indian version.

Bollywood star Ranveer Singh’s pan-India blockbuster ‘Dhurandhar’ (Part 1) is gearing up for a grand release in Japan on 10 July 2026, following its record-breaking global run. The announcement came through a collaborative Instagram post from Jio Studios and B62 Studios, which unveiled the international poster carrying the film’s English title and Japanese details.
The makers captioned the post: “It’s time for Japan to experience the Dhurandhar energy! Arriving in theatres across Japan on 10.7.2026.” The release marks another major milestone for the Aditya Dhar-directed spy thriller, which collected over ₹1,328 crore worldwide since its global debut on 5 December 2025.
Massive international success
According to the production team, the first instalment of the duology “recorded a landmark performance internationally, emerging as the No. 1 Hindi film of all time in North America, while also becoming the highest-grossing Indian film ever in Canada and Australia, and ranking among the top-performing Indian films in the UK.”
The ensemble cast includes Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera and Danish Pandor. The story follows an undercover Indian intelligence operative working inside Karachi’s criminal and political networks to dismantle a terror outfit targeting India.
July release confirmed in Japan
The producers have officially announced that the film will release across Japanese cinemas under the title ‘Dhurandhar Sakusen’ (Operation Dhurandhar). The new poster confirms 10 July 2026 as the theatrical release date.
Japanese cut is shorter; poster reveals runtime
One of the biggest changes in the Japanese version is its trimmed duration. The Indian theatrical cut runs 214 minutes, while the Japan release clocks in at 206 minutes, making it eight minutes shorter.
The confirmation comes from the translated text on the Japanese poster, which states: “206 minutes, you won't be able to breathe.” The promotional material also highlights Ranveer Singh “from Gully Boy” and Sanjay Dutt “from KGF Chapter 2”, positioning the film as “A shocking spy-action film depicted against the backdrop of real-life terrorist incidents.”
Can ‘Dhurandhar’ surpass ‘Pushpa 2’ in Japan?
Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule released in Japan on 16 January 2026 and reportedly earned around ¥105 million (₹6.06–6.1 crore) within 14 days, entering Japan’s top-10 highest-grossing Indian films and overtaking Dhoom 3.
With Dhurandhar’s massive global traction, industry watchers are keen to see whether Aditya Dhar’s film can exceed Pushpa 2’s performance in the Japanese market.
Expanding the Dhurandhar franchise
Directed, written and produced by Aditya Dhar, with production by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar, the two-film franchise draws loose inspiration from real geopolitical events in South Asia. The second part, ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, follows the agent’s continuing infiltration of Karachi’s underworld as he seeks to avenge the 26/11 attacks while confronting larger threats.
The franchise has already rewritten box-office history, becoming the first Hindi series to cross ₹3,000 crore worldwide.
