Hyderabad: Renowned filmmaker Sukumar recently paid a visit to nine-year-old Sri Tej, a victim of the stampede that occurred during the screening of 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' on 4 December. The tragic incident left the boy with severe injuries and claimed the life of his mother.

Sukumar visited the hospital on Thursday to check on the child’s condition. He expressed his sorrow to the family and assured them of his support. The director also had an extended conversation with Sri Tej’s father, offering financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to help the family during this challenging time. Sukumar’s wife, Tabitha, reportedly donated the amount earlier, on 9 December.

The update about Sukumar’s visit was shared by his spokesperson via a post on X. The post, written in Telugu, stated: “Director Sukumar visited Sri Tej at the hospital. His wife (Tabitha) donated ₹5 lakh to Sri Tej’s father on December 9.”

The stampede, which occurred at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, left another victim in critical condition. The child is currently on a ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital.

Actor Allu Arjun, the star of 'Pushpa 2', was arrested earlier in connection with the tragic event. The incident, which took place during the film’s premiere, resulted in a stampede-like situation. Among those affected was 35-year-old Revathi, who succumbed to asphyxiation at the scene.

Allu Arjun, who was present at the screening alongside his wife Sneha Reddy and co-star Rashmika Mandanna, was taken into custody earlier this month. He was released on bail from a Hyderabad jail on Saturday.
