Actor Prem Kumar has been appointed chairman of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC), with director and producer Alleppey Ashraf named vice chairman. 

Poet, writer and academic Kalpatta Narayanan has been appointed chairman of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi. Writer and journalist MP Surendran will serve as the akademi’s secretary.

Singer and music director G Venugopal will head the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi as chairman. Hemanthkumar, who has been active in theatre and cultural activities, has been appointed vice chairman, while NV Pradeep Kumar will serve as secretary.

Film producer and industry organiser M Renjith has been named chairman of the Kerala Cultural Activists Welfare Fund Board, which oversees welfare initiatives for artists and cultural workers.

Actor Raveendran is set to become chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, with a government order on the appointment expected to be issued. He has worked as an organiser and curator of several international film festivals, an experience that is understood to have influenced the decision.

The appointment comes amid criticism over the absence of a permanent chairman at the academy during major film events, including the International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK).
