The Chamber also criticised the government for ignoring demands presented over the past decade.

Kochi, Kerala: The Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has announced that it will stop distributing films to government-run theatres starting January, marking a protest against the state government. The decision affects all theatres owned by the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC).
Despite significant revenue generated from the film industry in the form of taxes, the Chamber alleges that the government has failed to implement policies favourable to the sector. The decision was announced by KFCC President Anil Thomas at a press conference.
The Chamber also criticised the government for ignoring demands presented over the past decade. The boycott of government theatres is being described as just a warning, but the Chamber has added that it may escalate to stronger measures if its demands are not met.
Key demands include waiving entertainment taxes beyond GST and providing special electricity tariffs.
