Kochi: A petition has been filed by Thankamani native VR Biju demanding removal of rape scenes from the upcoming movie ‘Thankamani’ starring Dileep in the lead role. The movie is being made based on an infamous incident which happened in Thankamani town in Idukki in the year 1986. The petition is likely to be considered by the court soon.

According to the petitioner, the scenes in the movie in which policemen are shown raping women in the Thankamani region, are highly misleading. The teaser of the movie came out recently including such scenes.

The petitioner fears that the movie scenes might eventually end up isolating Thankami region from the mainstream in real life, as they are not backed by facts. There is no actual evidence/proof for the things which the filmmakers claim happened in the Idukki town years ago.
