Thiruvananthapuram: Narivetta, the Malayalam-language political drama based on the 2003 Muthanga incident, opened in theatres on Friday to strong audience appreciation. Directed by Anuraj Manohar and written by Abin Joseph, the film also stars Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Tamil actor Cheran, who makes his Malayalam debut.

Tovino essays the role of Varghese, while Suraj Venjaramoodu plays armed police constable Basheer Ahmed, and Cheran appears as R. Keshavadas, a head constable. Produced by Tippushan and Shiyas Hassan under the Indian Cinema Company banner, the film explores socio-political themes with a gripping narrative.

Ahead of its release, Narivetta had generated significant buzz for its rich cinematography and intense trailer. Now, early reactions from viewers, particularly those who attended the first day of first show, suggest that the film has struck a chord with audiences.
