Kochi: Actor Mohanlal extended his heartfelt wishes for his daughter Vismaya’s film debut, saying he had never imagined his children entering the world of cinema. He was speaking at the puja ceremony for the film ‘Thudakkam’, directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, in which Vismaya will play the lead role.

Reflecting on his own journey, Mohanlal said, “I never wanted to act in films. I came into cinema as if by destiny. It was the audience who made me an actor and has supported me for 48 years. I consider everything that has happened in my life a wonder.”

He recalled the early days of his career: “Back then, there were no such ceremonies. You just came to act, and you acted. I never once thought my children would act in films because they have their own privacy and goals, and I have always respected that.”

Mohanlal highlighted the early talents of his children.“After a long time, Appu felt inspired to act in a film. He won his first best actor award in the sixth grade, just like I did. Maya (Vismaya), too, has showcased her talent through numerous school plays and has often been recognised as the best actress. Acting in films is never easy, but when Maya expressed a desire to pursue it, we ensured she had all the support she needed. Now, with a good script in hand, she is stepping into cinema. Everything in my life has been a wonder, and I even chose to name my daughter Vismaya.”

He emphasised the role of luck and collaboration in an actor’s journey. “More than just talent, you need the right platform, good films, and supportive co-actors. I pray that Vismaya has such good fortune. Appu’s new film is also being released. All of these opportunities have come unexpectedly. As a father and an actor, I extend my best wishes and congratulations to both of them.”

Mohanlal also acknowledged Antony’s wish for his children to enter cinema. “I have always told them it is up to them. My role is only to provide the fuel for them to prove their talent and move forward,” he added.
