Thiruvananthapuram: Sandhya, a young artist from Pachalloor here born without arms and legs, had the special opportunity to meet her idol, actor Mohanlal, recently. Arriving with two pencil drawings she created despite her physical challenges, Sandhya was filled with anticipation. When her ‘beloved Lalettan’ saw the drawings— created with the bend of her half-grown left elbow, despite not having hands—he was deeply moved and held her close affectionately.

"I can’t believe it; I saw Lalettan just as I had dreamed, and my heart was full..." Her words were cut off by happiness, and her eyes filled with tears.

"One picture was drawn in advance, while the other was completed the day before without much preparation. I'm not sure if the drawing is okay," she said to which Mohanlal replied jovially: “Everything will be okay.”

He signed one of the drawings and returned it to her while keeping the other, holding it close to his heart. During their meeting, he inquired about Sandhya's education and artistic pursuits and spoke with her parents, Santhosh and Rekha before parting ways.

Sandhya’s dream of meeting Mohanlal in person was fulfilled when he made time for her during his visit to the capital for the inauguration of the Kerala Cricket Association’s first cricket league at the Kariavattom Greenfield Stadium. Previously, Mathrubhumi reported on Sandhya's paintings of Mohanlal, which led him to call her on his birthday and personally invite her to meet him when he came to Thiruvananthapuram.
