Mammootty's iconic film Valliettan is making a comeback on the big screen. Directed by Shaji Kailas and written by Ranjith, the movie features Mammootty in the role of Arakkal Madhavanunni. This film also marked the first collaboration between Mammootty, Shaji Kailas, and Ranjith.
Produced by Baiju Ambalakkara and Anil Ambalakkara under the Ambalakkara Films banner, Valliettan is to be re-released after 25 years, now enhanced with 4K Dolby Atmos technology for improved sound and visuals. The film is presented in 4K Dolby Atmos by Matinee Now and the visual transfer was done in the United States.

The film also stars Shobana, Saikumar, Manoj K. Jayan, N. F. Varghese, Kalabhavan Mani, Vijayakumar, and Sudheesh. The soundtrack features lyrics by Gireesh Puthenchery and music by Rajamani and Mohan Sithara, with cinematography by Ravi Varman and editing by L. Bhoominathan.
Valliettan is scheduled to hit theatres in September, following the completion of production work. Vazhoor Jose is the PRO.

Meanwhile, preparations for the re-release of other classics such as Kaalapani, Devasuram, and Aaram Thampuran are also being undertaken by Matinee Now.
Producer Maha Subair is working on the preliminary tasks for the re-release of the Mammootty-starrer Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha, released in 2008. Producer Kireedam Unni has also expressed plans to re-release the iconic Mohanlal movie Kireedam.
The re-release is anticipated to attract not only older generations eager to relive these films but also young moviegoers. Recently, the Tamil industry saw a rise in re-release sprees with the likes of Paiyaa and Ghilli. Surprisingly, these movies did well at the box office, leading makers to revisit the old classics.
