
Kanhangad: Chandrika was struggling to raise Rs 3,000 to pay her daughter’s exam fee when she came across four Rs 500 notes lying on the roadside. She took the money and went directly to the police aid post at the Kanhangad bus stand.
When the police located the owner of the money, he reported that a total of Rs 2,100 had been lost. This news deeply upset Chandrika. She told the police, “Sir, I found only Rs 2,000. Do you think I took Rs 100? I am trying to come up with the exam fee for my daughter. I have not taken that money.”

Chandrika's distress touched the officers, and they decided to help her. They pooled together Rs 3,000 and gave it to Chandrika to ensure her daughter could sit for the exam.
Chandrika, native of Kanhangad, works for a private firm in the area. Her husband is Krishnan. The money Chandrika found belonged to Baiju, native of Monacha, Kanhangad. Inspector P. Ajithkumar presented the Rs 3,000 to Chandrika at the Hosdurg station.
