As Megastar Chiranjeevi gears up to celebrate his 70th birthday on August 22, the Telugu cinema icon has treated fans with a special update about his much-awaited fantasy drama ‘Vishwambhara’.

In a heartfelt video shared on X, Chiranjeevi announced that the film’s teaser will be unveiled today (August 21) at 6:06 pm as a birthday gift to his fans. He also confirmed that the socio-fantasy epic is set to hit theatres worldwide in summer 2026.

Chiranjeevi explained that the delay in production was intentional, as the film’s second half relies heavily on advanced visual effects. “This delay is on purpose. We don't want to give up quality. The details and pictures have to be perfect because this story deserves nothing less,” he said. Calling the project a “beautiful story” reminiscent of old Chandamama tales, the actor added that the film is designed to connect with both children and adults alike.

“This movie is for the whole family to enjoy, and summer is the best time for it. That's my promise,” he assured.

Directed by Mallidi Vassishta, who earlier helmed ‘Bimbisara’, ‘Vishwambhara’ is being produced on a grand scale by Vikram, Vamsi and Pramod under UV Creations. The film stars Trisha Krishnan as the female lead, alongside Kunal Kapoor and Ashika Ranganath in key roles. Recently, actress Mouni Roy joined the shoot for a special dance number with Chiranjeevi.

The film’s soundtrack is being composed by Oscar-winner MM Keeravani, with Bheems Ceciroleo penning a peppy dance track. Cinematographer Chota K Naidu is handling visuals, while AS Prakash is leading production design to bring the magical world of ‘Vishwambhara’ alive.

‘Vishwambhara’, initially referred to as ‘Mega 156’, was officially announced on Chiranjeevi’s birthday in 2023. A grand launch with a traditional muhurat pooja took place in Hyderabad that October. Though early speculation suggested the film might be a sequel to Chiranjeevi’s 1990 classic ‘Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari’, the makers clarified that the story is entirely original.
