Mangaluru: Malayalam actor Jayakrishnan and two associates, Santosh Abraham and Vimal, have been named in an FIR for allegedly verbally abusing a cab driver with communal remarks in Mangaluru, police said on Saturday.
No arrests have been made so far. The incident reportedly took place on the night of October 9 when the trio booked a cab via a mobile app from Bejai New Road.
The cab driver, Ahmed Shafiq (32), alleged that he was subjected to verbal abuse in Hindi and Malayalam when he contacted them to confirm the pickup location, according to the complaint filed at Urwa Police Station on Friday.
The FIR has been registered under Sections 352 and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
"Digital trails identified them; statements are being recorded," a police source said.
