Kumbh Mela viral star’s husband tells police she cannot appear for questioning due to pregnancy amid allegations of marrying a minor.

Khargone (Madhya Pradesh): Farman, the husband of the woman who became a viral sensation during the Kumbh Mela, has reportedly informed authorities that his wife is unable to appear before the police as she is currently pregnant. The statement was issued after the Madhya Pradesh Police directed the couple to present themselves in person following a legal complaint lodged by the woman’s parents. The parents allege that their daughter was misled into the marriage while she was still a minor.
Legal stay and health concerns
Farman reportedly communicated the details of his wife’s health condition to a female Sub-Inspector in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, explaining that her physical state makes an immediate appearance impossible. This development follows a prior intervention by the High Court, which had granted the couple protection from arrest until 20 May. The husband’s response seeks to delay their appearance based on these documented medical grounds.
Kerala Police verify age and consent
The controversy initially surfaced on March 11 when the young woman sought assistance from the Thampanoor Police in Thiruvananthapuram. At the time, she reportedly alleged that her father was attempting to force her to return to her home state for an arranged marriage against her wishes, asserting her intent to remain with Farman.
Following an investigation into her identity, the Kerala Police clarified that official records confirmed the woman was 18 years and three months old at the time of the incident. Consequently, she was allowed to leave of her own volition. Authorities in Kerala have consistently maintained that no forged documents were utilised during the marriage process and that all procedural requirements involving the local panchayat and the police were strictly followed.
