Kochi: The rift among film industry organisations is deepening, with the producers' association receiving a letter from AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists). The letter expresses dissatisfaction over AMMA being described as an organisation without leadership. It demands that the Producers' Association express regret over this remark, stating that calling AMMA a leaderless entity was inappropriate.
AMMA, in its letter to the Producers' Association, asserted that it is on a path of correction and that the characterisation of the organisation as lacking leadership was erroneous. The letter calls for the association to issue an apology for the same.
Meanwhile, film organisations have jointly announced an industry-wide strike starting June 1 in the state. The decision was made during a joint meeting of cinema associations. The strike demands include the state government's withdrawal of entertainment tax alongside GST and a reduction in the high remuneration of actors. The producers' association had previously raised concerns regarding actors' remuneration and related issues.
