Bengaluru: A serious family dispute involving Kannada television actress Kavya Gowda escalated into violence after her husband, Somashekar, was allegedly stabbed by relatives during a heated argument. The incident reportedly took place at the family residence following an altercation among close family members.

According to initial information, what began as a verbal disagreement soon turned physical. During the clash, Somashekar was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon, resulting in stab injuries.

Somashekar was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Bengaluru for treatment. Doctors have stated that his injuries are not life-threatening and that his condition is stable. He continues to remain under medical observation.

Preliminary findings suggest that long-standing family disagreements were at the root of the incident. The family was reportedly living in a joint household, where disputes related to domestic matters and the care of Kavya Gowda and Somashekar’s young daughter had caused ongoing tension.

As arguments intensified, the situation spiralled out of control, leading to the alleged attack. Police sources indicate that multiple relatives, including Somashekar’s brother and other family members, may have been involved in the confrontation.

Following the incident, a formal complaint was lodged at the Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station by Bhavya Gowda, Kavya Gowda’s sister, on behalf of the couple. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and began an investigation.

Authorities have confirmed that counter-complaints have also been filed by the opposing side, indicating conflicting claims. Police are currently examining CCTV footage from the house and recording statements from all individuals involved to establish the sequence of events.

Kavya Gowda’s statement

Reacting to the incident, Kavya Gowda told the media that misunderstandings and false allegations led to the confrontation. She denied any wrongdoing and stated that the situation had been misrepresented.

The actress claimed that threats were made during the argument and said that home surveillance footage would help reveal the truth. She emphasised that her primary concern is her husband’s recovery and her child’s safety, adding that she has full faith in the legal process.
