Bengaluru: Police suspect that Kannada director Guruprasad may have died by suicide due to financial crises. According to the police, his wife indicated that Guruprasad had been facing financial difficulties, which might have driven him to take this step. The investigation into the incident is on.

There were no signs of forced entry, and the door was locked from inside. His wife stated that he was experiencing financial issues and had debts related to film production. "This might have been what led to the suicide," a senior police officer said.

According to the police report, his wife Sumitra last tried to contact Guruprasad by phone on October 25. However, he did not answer. On Sunday, a neighbour of Guruprasad, Jayaram, called Sumitra to inform her of a foul smell emanating from the flat. When the door was forced open, Guruprasad’s body was found in a decomposed condition

Superintendent of Police C K Babu informed the media that no suicide note had been discovered.

Guruprasad’s film ‘Ranganayaka’ had faced a significant box office failure. Recently, he had remarried, and his demise occurred during the production of his upcoming film ‘Adema’.
