BJP MP and Actress Kangana Ranaut has responded to the ongoing controversy surrounding Ranveer Singh and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) ban, offering a blunt take on how success often attracts resistance and criticism.

The actor was speaking at a film event when she was asked about the industry body’s non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh, which has sparked widespread debate within Bollywood. ‘Success brings challenges,’ says Kangana.

Reacting to the question, Kangana said she could relate to the situation, pointing out that she herself has faced similar restrictions in the industry. “When your stature grows, your enemies grow as well. It is impossible for your influence to increase without making some enemies along the way. Ranveer Singh should look at this and realize the stature he has achieved if he has so many detractors. When you move forward in life, you face many obstacles. You cannot expect life to always be a smooth journey. I have experienced a lot myself, and today I am doing well. My career is going well too. Such things do not make much difference. It's okay—everything is going to be fine eventually.”

She suggested that rising status and visibility often come with increased opposition, saying that it is natural for challenges and “enemies” to grow alongside success.

Her comments were interpreted as a defence of Ranveer Singh, who has been at the centre of the FWICE controversy following his exit from Don 3.

Parallel with her own career

Kangana also referenced her own experience of being banned or restricted by sections of the film industry in the past, stating that such obstacles did not stop her professional progress.

She maintained that setbacks are part of a larger journey in the entertainment industry and do not define long-term success.

Background of the controversy

The FWICE recently issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh, following disputes related to his reported exit from Don 3.

The decision has triggered debate within the industry, with some supporting the body’s stand and others questioning the severity of the action.

The controversy has also brought attention to internal tensions within Bollywood production circles.

Ranveer Singh was announced as the lead for Don 3 after Shah Rukh Khan’s earlier appearances in the franchise. However, reports of disagreements between the actor and the film’s producers surfaced later, leading to uncertainty around the project.

While the exact reasons for the fallout remain disputed, the situation has escalated into a wider industry discussion involving production houses and film associations.
