The OTT debut of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, popularly referred to online as Dhurandhar 2, has sparked widespread discussion in Pakistan after a viral social media video claimed that Netflix servers crashed within minutes of the film’s release.

The action drama, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, made its international streaming debut on May 14 following a blockbuster theatrical run.

Viral video fuels online buzz

Pakistani content creator Maviya Umer Farooqui shared a viral Instagram video claiming viewers in Pakistan had eagerly waited for the film to release online at midnight before rushing to stream it simultaneously.

In the video, he said Pakistani audiences were curious to watch the film despite ongoing debates over its political messaging and portrayal of events linked to Lyari.

Farooqui also stated that viewers wanted to see how the film was made, how Ranveer Singh’s character was presented and whether the events shown in the movie reflected reality.

Following the OTT release, social media users began comparing the streaming version with the theatrical cut released in Indian cinemas.

Several viewers claimed the OTT edition featured extended violent scenes and additional footage that had either been trimmed or modified by the Central Board of Film Certification for theatrical release.

Fans online pointed to changes in background music, editing, typography and certain action sequences, while some users alleged that graphic scenes removed in theatres appeared fully restored in the OTT version.

Fans discuss “uncensored” scenes

Many viewers specifically discussed longer and more graphic violent scenes in the streaming cut, including sequences involving hammer attacks and other intense moments that were reportedly shortened in cinemas.

Some users praised the darker presentation of the OTT version, while others criticised the theatrical censorship, claiming it affected the film’s original impact.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge emerged as one of the biggest Hindi film successes of the year following its theatrical release in March.

The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Gaurav Gera and others in key roles.

The movie reportedly crossed major global box office milestones during its theatrical run and continues to remain a major topic of online discussion following its OTT debut.
