
Nag Ashwin's film 'Kalki 2898 AD' has surpassed the 1400 crore mark at the box office within just fifteen days of its release. The movie is running successfully in almost 320 screens in Kerala, receiving widespread acclaim for its stunning visuals and gripping action sequences.
The film, distributed in Kerala by Wayfarer Films, released in theatres on June 27, 2024, in both 2D and 3D formats. Produced by Ashwini Dutt under the banner of Vaijayanthi Movies, 'Kalki 2898 AD' features an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Shobhana, Deepika Padukone, Dulquer Salmaan, and Anna Benn.
Set across three distinct worlds - Kashi, Complex, and Shambhala - the film narrates a tale that spans from the epic events of the Mahabharata in 3101 AD to the futuristic world of 2898 AD, captivating audiences with its grand storytelling.
Director Karthik Subbaraj expressed his admiration for the film on X, describing 'Kalki' as a remarkable cinematic experience that portrayed a rich and expansive universe.
Nag Ashwin had announced exciting details about the film's upcoming sequel. The next instalment will feature an epic face-off involving Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan.
'Kalki 2898 AD' stands out as one of India's most expensive movies to date. Set in a future world devastated by war and environmental collapse, the story centres on Bhairava (Prabhas), a formidable warrior with a mysterious background.
As Bhairava navigates this dystopian landscape, he becomes embroiled in an ancient prophecy. Amitabh Bachchan portrays Ashwatthama, an immortal figure from the time of the Indian epic 'Mahabharata', while Deepika Padukone plays Sumathi, who carries the unborn Kalki, an avatar of Vishnu. Kamal Haasan takes on the role of the antagonist, Supreme Yaskin.
