Mumbai: Even before its theatrical release, the highly anticipated courtroom comedy Jolly LLB 3 has found itself at the centre of real-life legal drama. A civil court in Pune has issued summons to Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi and director Subhash Kapoor, following allegations that the film mocks and disrespects the Indian judiciary.

The summons were issued after advocate Wajed Rahim Khan filed a petition against the film, raising objections to its portrayal of judges and legal proceedings. The court has directed all three to appear in person on October 28 at 11 am.

What is the complaint about?

Advocate Wajed Rahim Khan claims that Jolly LLB 3 depicts the legal system in a derogatory manner. In his plea, he objected to scenes in the teaser that allegedly misrepresent the legal profession, including a moment where judges are referred to using slang terms like "mama", which he says undermines the dignity of the court.

" There should be respect for the lawyers. That is why I filed a petition in the court, that whatever they have shown about the advocates and the judges is wrong,” said Khan in a statement to ANI.

The complaint was originally filed in 2024, shortly after the teaser's release, and has now led to official legal summons for the key members of the film’s cast and crew.
