‘I thought my career was over’: Akshay Kumar recalls slapping man at party

Akshay Kumar is known for his slick action sequences. Whether it is throwing those punches or kicking down his opponents, the actor has always impressed audiences with his agility and precision.

While he is loved for the action that he performs on screen, there was also a time when the actor slapped a person in real-life, which made the person lose his consciousness for a while. This incident was narrated by the actor himself, recently on the special episode of 'Wheel of Fortune' featuring the Shark Tank India Season 5 judges.

During the episode, Akshay was asked by Aman Gupta: “What has been your life’s most ‘gajab beizzati’ (highly embarrassing) moment?” While everyone expected Akshay to narrate a quirky or a funny story, the ‘Jolly LLB 3’ actor recalled the slapping incident.

It was during an event that he was attending with a close friend of his when Akshay slapped a person, after an argument broke out between his friend and the person, who was consistently abusing Akshay’s friend. Recalling the episode, which he now terms as unfortunate, Akshay said, “He abused once, I told him not to. He did it again. Then a third time. I kept warning him four to five times, but he just wouldn’t stop.” The episode had taken place at “a very big party” and Akshay’s friend “had actually started crying because it was extremely embarrassing for him”.

Just after Akshay slapped him, the person fell unconscious, causing a brief moment of panic, which also led Akshay to almost consider that his career was finished. “We poured water on him, and I was praying that he would regain consciousness,” said Akshay. Though the person did regain his consciousness after a little while, Akshay thinks of the episode as a mistake. “Had it been today, I would never react like that, Akshay said, adding, “For me, that was the real ‘gajab beizzati’ moment, something I would want to change, if I could. Today, I would simply walk away.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Akshay is presently hosting the television game show ‘Wheel of Fortune’. As far as movies are concerned, he was last seen in ‘Jolly LLB 3’, co-starring Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla. The actor will next be seen in Priyadarshan’s upcoming comedy horror titled ‘Bhooth Bangla’, slated for a theatrical release on April 10.
